I was driving around the area the other day and saw a sign for a joyeria. I know that that’s Spanish for jewelry store, but I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be cool if there were a store where you could get joy?’
I suppose that would be too easy for something like joy – it’s not a mood or really an emotion like happiness. Just like anger doesn’t necessarily correlate with bitterness nor sadness with depression, joy and happiness can be experienced independently and in different ways. It’s kind of like a river – if it’s deep enough, the water goes over the rocks with no perturbation – an outside observer wouldn’t even know the rocks are there. But if the water level lowers, the water breaks against the rocks and becomes rapids.
