The “Ask” can Transform Your Life

A simple way

to transform your life

is to … ask for help.

An aura of arrogance hovers over people who never ask for help. They just push forward solo to accomplish tasks … large and small.

They labor daily to keep the bricks of their image pedestal stacked and orderly. A brick askew betrays their ineptness… or so they think.

NEWS FLASH:: No one expects perfection!

Instead, by not asking for help, you float around in an unrealistic air of arrogance. It’s a very lonely place to be.

It’s actually a form of idolatry. The one who claims all knowledge, never asking for help, suffers from an idolatry of self.

God alone has all knowledge and all wisdom. He alone is perfect. The Lord created us to live in community. This includes decision-making. When we come together, helping one another, incredible progress can be made!

Asking for help develops humility. Humility, in turn, removes the burden of the perfection pedestal. Step down from espousing to be the font of knowledge for everything. It’s only an aura anyway!

Ahhh… the freedom to walk away from this personnae. You do not have to solve everything on your own.

Sidebar: The whole “It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission” is absurd.  Avoid the constant need to ask for forgiveness by networking with others, asking their opinions, gathering suggestions, and yes, even gaining permission!

Your Turn…

For the next seven days: ask for help every day.

Ask someone how to do something – plant a bulb, do a mail merge, learn to play cricket.
Ask a teen or a colleague to show you and teach you their favorite new phone app.
Ask someone about their hobby.

By the way: Neither Google, Wiki, Siri, iris nor any other app on your phone or laptop count! Ask a real person.

Reach out to those around you and ask for help.

It’s simply transformational!

Needed to hear that today… Going for surgery soon and no one to support my husband. Thank you for the post. God knows what we need… and when!
